For the Visual Autobiographies project, campers were asked to fill their paper with visual representations of their lives - people, places, experiences, etc. that are important to them. We talked a good bit about using the entire paper, about visual representations often found in folk art, and about blocking out their overall compositions before focusing explicitly on details in specific areas. It was a productive class with regard to drawing practices and learning to use new materials (chalk pastels), with very cool results!
